City of Fort Worth STAAR Data Report

Fort Worth Education Partnership has released the 2023-2024 City of Fort Worth STAAR Data Report.

Highlights citywide data for each district.

Students met grade-level standards 35% of the time on State of Texas tests (STAAR) for the 2023-2024 academic year in Grades 3-8 for Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. This represents a one percentage point decrease relative to Spring 2023.

Delay in school accountability ratings extends uncertainty for Tarrant County districts

Delays in releasing the Texas Education Agency’s school accountability ratings are due to legal disputes that have extended the uncertainty for Tarrant County districts, making it difficult for schools and parents to assess academic performance accurately.

The delay in ratings adds to the challenge of addressing the critical issue of students not reading at grade level in Texas. Accurate ratings are essential for identifying struggling schools and directing resources to improve reading proficiency, especially when many students are already below grade level.

This is the second year in a row where the ratings are delayed, therefore schools and districts throughout the state haven’t been graded since the 2021-22 school year.
